DinoInstinct Now Recuiting!

Hey guys, we’re hoping to have an early “alpha” version going by the end of the month. (perhaps a bit ambitious, but still…) Anyway, to achieve this deadline, we need 2 or 3 more people. We’re trying to keep the team small at first for management reasons, though we plan to eventually have between 14 and 25 people on the team.

The alpha version will be an EXTREMELY simplified version of the game. The main features we are aiming for are:
-Change player model to dinosaur
-Animate said model
-Be melee only (+a few other tweaks)
-Probably be 3rd person (makes for less work initially)

We plan to use the alpha test to flesh-out the basic gameplay. Various tweaks will be made, and we’ll probably play around with different map-design ideas. More details will be provided as the project progresses.

The three available positions are:
Modeler: We need someone who can model, skin, and rig a good-looking dinosaur (first dino will be a raptor).

Animator: We need someone who can help us animate the new dino model and get the animations into game.

Mapper: We need someone who can make high-quality outdoor maps that would be fun for melee-style combat. (basically, be creative/open-minded)

All applicants must be friendly, easy to get along with, and not take constructive criticism personally.

For more information, please see our job postings on ModDB:

Mapper: http://www.moddb.com/mods/dino-instinct/jobs/hl2-modjungleoutdoor-mapper-for-melee-only-mod

To apply, please send your resume (mainly first name or a username you want to go by, contact info, past experience, etc. It doesn’t have to be an actual resume.) along with examples of prior work and a demo reel (if you have one) to jobs@dinoinstinct.com

Site Restored From Backup, New Site Still Under Construction

Hey guys, as some of you may have noticed, hl2files.com stopped providing free hosting to mods. Fortunately, we had plenty of notice, so we were able to back-up the site. This week, we finally got set-up with a new, paid hosting provider. Because our new site isn’t finished yet, we restored our backup of the old site to this server.

Our new hosting provider is Dreamhost, and they provide a ton of awesome features. For one, our source code can now be stored on our own server, where we have 50gb of storage and a bandwidth cap I can’t ever see us exceeding.

Other new features we now have access to is a wordpress blog (blog.dinoinstinct.com, where I plan on talking about more than just the latest DinoInstinct news. We can have some interviews with members of the team, etc).

Perhaps one of the more interesting features is an open-source project management program called dotProject. Hopefully, it will help us get more organized and make better use of our time, especially as the team grows and organization becomes more challenging.

I can’t give an ETA on the new site as I am not the webmaster, but we’re working on it. From the rough-draft I’ve seen, I can assure you the new site will be awesome. :D
